　　位于蘇州城內東北部婁門內園林路，始建于元代，為元代園林的代表。園內假山遍布，長廊環(huán)繞，樓臺隱現，曲徑通幽，有迷陣一般的感覺。獅子林平面呈長方形，面積約10000平方米，是蘇州古典園林的代表之一，擁有國內尚存最大的古代假山群，有假山王國之美譽。長廊的墻壁中嵌有宋代四大名家蘇軾、米芾、黃庭堅、蔡襄的書法碑及南宋文天祥《梅花詩》的碑刻作品。

　　獅子林原為菩提正宗寺的后花園，公元1341年，高僧天如禪師來到蘇州講經，受到弟子們擁戴。翌年，弟子們買地置屋為天如禪師建禪林。天如禪師因師傅中峰和尚得道于浙江西天目山獅子巖，為紀念自我的師傅，取名“獅子林”。亦因佛書上有“獅子吼”一語，且眾多假山酷似獅形而命名。
