　　I'm sure most people still remember the sandstorm that happened last month. It swept across the large area of 11 provinces and caused a great loss to our nation.

　　As you can see on TV, when a sandstorm comes, the wind blows strongly with dust and sand. Sometimes trees are even broken down in half, and little birds cannot find their homes. Sometimes clouds of dust blur the vision, and little kids cannot find their ways. It's like the end of the world.

　　When a sandstorm occurs, our classroom is filled with dust and sand. My poor teachers! They've breathed in enough chalk-powder. Now, they have to take in much dust. My poor fellow classmates! They told me they were almost dying.

　　We love beautiful spring. We cherish bright sunshine. But sandstorms destroy all the lovely things. Yet we know it is Mother Nature's revenge on what we have done to her. In order to see blue sky and sunny spring again, we should plant more trees and more grass to protect the environment. And it is not too late if we start right now.

　　Though it's a hard job to fight against the sandstorm, it is the battle we must fight, and it is a battle we must win!

　　3 My Definition of Success

　　“Once upon a time, there was a king who had a daughter as beautiful as a blooming rose. To all the suitors who came to the king's palace to ask for the hand of the princess, the old king assigned three tasks to be accomplished, each next to impossible. One day, into the king's palace came a handsome young prince..." Well, you know the rest. The three tasks may be different in different versions, but the main plot is always the same, with the prince claiming the princess's hand triumphantly.

　　And the ending is always the same, finishing with the line "And they live happily every after."

　　Why aren't we tired of something so fanciful, so unrealistic, and, I would say, so unimaginative? How can a story like that endure generations of repetition`? Because, I think, it is a typical success story. It is highly philosophical and symbolic. By implication, we see a 4-step definition of success: 1 ) a goal to be set. as represented by the beautiful princess; 2 ) challenges to be met, as represented by the three tasks; 3 ) the process of surmounting difficulties, as represented by the ordeals the youth goes through; and 4 ) the reward of success, as represented by the happy marriage.

　　The story not only caters to everyone's inward yearning for success, but also emphasizes the inseparability of the process and the result. The reward of success will be much amplified if the path leading towards it is treacherous, and vice versa. If a person inherits his father's millions and leads an easy life, he is not a successful person even in material terms, because there are no difficulties involved in his achieving affluence. The term "success", to be sure. will not sit still for easy definition. But as I understand it, the true meaning of success entails a combination of both the process and the satisfactory result of an endeavor. To clarify my view, let me give another ogy.

　　If we changed the rules of football, greatly enlarged the goal and sent away David Seaman or any other goal keeper, so that another David, namely David Beckham, could score easily, then scoring would not give him the thrill of accomplishment and the joy that it brings. If we further changed the rules by not allowing Arsenal's defenders to defend, so that Beckham needed only to lift a finger, actually a toe, to score, then there would be no game at all, because the meaning of winning would have disappeared. In accepting the challenge, in surmounting the difficulties and in enduring the hardship, success acquires its value. The sense of attainment varies in proportion to the degree of difficulties on overcomes.

　　The concept of success is not constant but relative because the nature of difficulty is also relative. Something you do effortlessly might pose a great difficulty for a handicapped person. In acquiring the ability to do the same as you can, he or she achieve success. That's why we greatly admire Stephen Hawking, because, though confined to a wheel chair, he has contributed greatly to the field of science.

　　I myself, a rather shy person by nature who easily suffer from stage fright, had to pluck up great courage to take part in a speech contest like this. I could have stayed away and had an easy time of it by not entering the university level contest.But I chose to accept the challenge and to face the difficulties. Now here I am. If I come out first, it will be a great success for me. If I come out last-I hope this will not be the case-but if I come out last, I will not call my attempt a failure, but will also celebrate it as a true success, because part of my goal is my own character training-to do more assertive, to be brave in face of difficulties. For me, it is a meaningful step forward, all as it is, in the long journey toward the final success in my life, because I have truly gained by participating.

　　Let us return to our handsome young prince and the 4-step definition of success. You my have noticed that the usual worldly criteria of wealth, position and fame were not mentioned as part of the story, but rather, it emphasized the process of overcoming difficulties. The ancient wisdom had already defined the meaning of success, and this is my definition, too.

　　一、注重預(yù)習(xí)。

　　“預(yù)習(xí)”是一種良好的學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣，是課堂教學(xué)中的重要環(huán)節(jié)。它作為學(xué)習(xí)過程的起始階段，是培養(yǎng)學(xué)生自學(xué)能力的重要途徑，在提高學(xué)習(xí)效率方面有著重要的作用。它不僅能幫學(xué)生“學(xué)會”知識，更能幫助學(xué)生“會學(xué)”知識。做好預(yù)習(xí)工作，功在課外，利在課內(nèi)。我們有以下幾個環(huán)節(jié)：

　　1、布置預(yù)習(xí)作業(yè)。

　　在寒暑假來臨之前，學(xué)校要求每位教師給學(xué)生特別布置假期預(yù)習(xí)作業(yè)。為了使預(yù)習(xí)有章可循，教師列出預(yù)習(xí)提綱，分發(fā)給每個學(xué)生。針對預(yù)習(xí)內(nèi)容，教師必須提出明確的預(yù)習(xí)要求。而且預(yù)習(xí)要求必須合理，正確，有可操作性。我們給學(xué)生布置了預(yù)習(xí)前三單元的內(nèi)容，具體到哪一天預(yù)習(xí)哪幾頁單詞，背會哪部分對話，掌握哪幾個句型，理解哪項語法內(nèi)容。此外，每日摘抄一句英語諺語，兩天一篇閱讀理解，五天一篇英語練筆（小作文）。

　　2、指導(dǎo)預(yù)習(xí)方法。

　　針對不同的教學(xué)內(nèi)容指導(dǎo)學(xué)生選用合適的預(yù)習(xí)方法，通過查閱資料、聽錄音帶、網(wǎng)絡(luò)學(xué)習(xí)、向哥哥姐姐求教等多種方法來學(xué)習(xí)。例如：會話練習(xí)可以采用查一查，補一補，說一說的方法；句型練習(xí)可以采用找一找，歸一歸，比一比的方法；閱讀練習(xí)可以采用劃一劃，查一查，寫一寫的方法。我們知道“授之一魚，只供一餐，授之以漁，可享一生。”只要堅持運用科學(xué)的方法培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的預(yù)習(xí)習(xí)慣，學(xué)生們一定會學(xué)會預(yù)習(xí)，運用預(yù)習(xí)，學(xué)會學(xué)習(xí)，為他們的終身學(xué)習(xí)奠下良好的基礎(chǔ).

　　3、爭取得到家長的配合。

　　為了學(xué)生在假期期間更好地完成預(yù)習(xí)作業(yè)，使預(yù)習(xí)作業(yè)更有成效，我們學(xué)校在放假前特意召開了家長會，把學(xué)校的想法、做法與家長們溝通交流，期望家長能做好督促檢查工作。事實證明，我們得到了很多家長的配合。

　　4、檢查預(yù)習(xí)效果。

　　檢查學(xué)生預(yù)習(xí)是否到位，存在有哪些問題，以便今后教學(xué)做到有的放矢。開學(xué)的第二天，我們學(xué)校就組織了各科的預(yù)習(xí)考試。成績上報學(xué)校，并作出效果分析。由于我們英語學(xué)科的特點，初二學(xué)生在預(yù)習(xí)單詞和每單元的語法聚焦兩方面比較好，但知識點和句型的靈活運用還有待提高。

　　二、抓好教研組建設(shè)。

　　學(xué)校是一個大群體，而教研組是一個小群體，教師是這個群體中的成員，我們每位教師的成長與發(fā)展都離不開這個群體。我校在抓教研組建設(shè)方面工作做得扎實，有條不紊，為每位教師的發(fā)展搭建了平臺。積極開展教研組的說、上、評課活動，要求人人過關(guān)。緊緊圍繞教研組的活動專題，重視對學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣培養(yǎng)的研究，和對學(xué)生自主學(xué)習(xí)意識培養(yǎng)的研究。通過教研活動，使本教研組全體英語教師共同提高，人人受益。也讓我感受到了集體的力量是無窮的，實現(xiàn)了教師之間，同伴之間的團(tuán)結(jié)協(xié)作。一個人有困難時，大家都來幫助，讓她從困境中走出，不斷發(fā)展自己，提高自己，身處在這樣一個教師群體中，我深感榮幸。

　　集體備課是發(fā)揮群體優(yōu)勢，提高備課質(zhì)量的重要途徑，也是落實教學(xué)常規(guī)，提高課堂教學(xué)效率的.必要措施。我校很重視英語教研，特別安排了主抓教學(xué)的劉校長下組監(jiān)督指導(dǎo)，使活動有計劃、有目標(biāo)、有實效。我們英語備課組的三位教師積極組織集體備課，研究教學(xué)內(nèi)容，研究學(xué)生，進(jìn)度，研究教學(xué)方法，安排及教學(xué)資料做到一致。我們每周至少活動一次，時間固定，有活動記錄。每次活動都定有中心發(fā)言人，定活動的主題，不走形式，不敷衍了事，切實解決教學(xué)中的一些問題，努力提高課堂教學(xué)質(zhì)量，完善教學(xué)，規(guī)范我們的教學(xué)行為，向課堂40分鐘要質(zhì)量。

　　四、培養(yǎng)學(xué)生自主探究學(xué)習(xí)的能力。

　　本學(xué)年我們學(xué)校一直倡導(dǎo)培養(yǎng)學(xué)生自主探究學(xué)習(xí)的能力。要求教學(xué)要以學(xué)生為主體，轉(zhuǎn)變角色，成為學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)的引導(dǎo)者、幫助者。在課堂中要求教師要“少講多學(xué)”，即教師少講，學(xué)生多學(xué)。堅持放手原則：凡是學(xué)生能讀的就讓學(xué)生讀，凡是學(xué)生能說的就讓學(xué)生說，凡是學(xué)生能想的就讓學(xué)生想，凡是學(xué)生能討論的就讓學(xué)生討論，凡是學(xué)生能寫的就讓學(xué)生寫，凡是學(xué)生能做的就讓學(xué)生做。給學(xué)生自學(xué)時間、提問時間、讀書時間和練習(xí)時間。在教學(xué)中，我們鼓勵學(xué)生嘗試地交流、討論、質(zhì)疑、解惑；把問的權(quán)利交給學(xué)生，把講的機(jī)會讓給學(xué)生，讓學(xué)生參與到知識形成的過程中，并從中感受到“參與之樂，思維之趣，成功之悅”。

　　1、認(rèn)真?zhèn)湔n。

　　大家都曉得，備好課是上好課的前提，備課包括備課標(biāo)、備教材、備學(xué)生、備教法，備學(xué)法。教師要根據(jù)課程尺度請求，當(dāng)真鉆研教材，借助有關(guān)資料，了解、分析和掌握學(xué)生研究的立場、方法、能力和研究中存在的困難；選擇最佳教學(xué)策略，確立合理的課堂教學(xué)模式，制定具體的教學(xué)環(huán)節(jié)，達(dá)到教學(xué)進(jìn)程的最優(yōu)化組合，有利于實現(xiàn)學(xué)生當(dāng)堂掌握常識。看課程標(biāo)標(biāo)使我明白了課程的總目標(biāo)，也深入的理解了英語課程的工具性與人文性的統(tǒng)一，明白了英語教學(xué)在培養(yǎng)學(xué)生們初步的綜合語言運用能力的基礎(chǔ)上，還肩負(fù)著促進(jìn)心智成熟，提高綜合人文素養(yǎng)的重任，為教學(xué)的設(shè)計指明了方向。備教材，上課前翻閱各種材料、教師用書、研究資料及以往的相招考題，對于哪些是重點難點，哪些常識點擴(kuò)展到什么水平，會以什么形式出題，做到心中有數(shù)。備學(xué)生，就是要了解學(xué)生的年齡特點、接受能力、常識儲備情況，這樣可以免起點太高，學(xué)生聽不懂，或起點太低，學(xué)生感到無聊的情況。備教法。每一級每個班學(xué)生特點各不相同，所以要注重仔細(xì)研究學(xué)生，采納適合學(xué)生的方法導(dǎo)入新課，用學(xué)生易于掌握的方法講解新知，用學(xué)生感興趣的方法組織課堂活動。

　　我請求自己在備好課的基礎(chǔ)上，每節(jié)課都滿懷熱忱地走進(jìn)教室，哪怕身材不適、滿心煩惱，在站上講臺，面向?qū)W生的那一刻，我都市面帶笑臉，因為快樂的情感可以傳染，假如你把快樂的情感、積極地心態(tài)傳染給學(xué)生，他的研究效力可能會成倍增長。

　　3、精講多練，提高課堂效率。

　　英語學(xué)科知識點多而雜，致使部分學(xué)生因記不住而失去興趣。我會經(jīng)常用各種靈活的活動幫助他們記憶，使學(xué)生輕松的掌握知識，提高興趣。比如在初一教音標(biāo)時，我用一個小故事把十二個單元音音素連起來，易于他們記憶，還有二十一個輔音字母的發(fā)音我也編了與發(fā)音相匹的動作幫助他們記憶。研究詞匯eye時，用聯(lián)想法可以幫助他們記憶，也可用諧音教學(xué)door，告訴學(xué)生門是用來防盜的，所以墳?zāi)沟囊馑迹�發(fā)音是土墓，再比如umbrella諧音像俺不來了，因為下雨沒傘。教學(xué)語法時，比如時態(tài)的教學(xué)，可以把幾大時態(tài)的構(gòu)成及用法比較對比研究，比較級最高級的教學(xué)，用實物或班里的同學(xué)設(shè)置真實的語境，操練句型。運用靈活的教學(xué)方法，可以降低研究的難度，激發(fā)學(xué)生們研究的興趣。

　　3、教師要協(xié)作發(fā)展。靠教師一人的力量很難辦理一些教學(xué)中的實際困難。一個學(xué)校優(yōu)秀的成績背后一定有一個連合協(xié)作和具有科研立異精神的團(tuán)隊。單打獨斗無法創(chuàng)造一個學(xué)科的輝煌。

The king promised him, but set down the condition that he must find another person to be in prison instead of him. The condition was so critical that it was almost impossible to be realized. But pi sia did find such a man, who was his friend named dameng. Then pi sia went home to bid farewell with mother as he wished.

　　Days passed quickly, and the term of imprisonment was near at hand, but pi sia had not turned back yet. Most people ascertained that pi sia had deceived his friend.

　　It was a rainy day when demeng was sent to the execution ground, all persons watching around laughed at him, but demeng himself was not worried at all. The rope was hanging on his neck, and just at the critical moment, one person ran quickly through the rain shouting loudly,"please wait, I'm coming!" it was pi sia who turned back in time.

　　This was the most moving curtain in the world. demeng took no care of himself in order to help his friend realize the duty, whose kind of spirit was moved one to tears. While pi sia did not hesitate to take life as the price for performing the promise, whose kind of courage was also rare to meet. My dear friends, do you know why demeng was so calm before death? the reason was that he believed his friend pi sia would not do such despicable thing as deceiving friends. This depended on the strength of trust.
